Getting started with the CLI

Install Kaivo CLI

On Windows, open PowerShell (not the Command Prompt, a very common mistake) and paste: irm https://kaivoia.site/install.ps1 | iex

On macOS, open Terminal and paste: curl -fsSL https://kaivoia.site/install.sh | bash. On Linux: wget -qO- https://kaivoia.site/install.sh | bash

The script downloads a single file, kaivo (kaivo.exe on Windows), puts it in a .kaivo\bin folder in your home folder, and adds it to your PATH, first, so that an old command with the same name doesn't come before it. It doesn't need administrator rights.

Then close your terminal and open a new one: a terminal that's already open doesn't see the updated PATH. Type kaivo -v: you should see a version number. If something is wrong, kaivo doctor tells you exactly what.

Prefer to download the file yourself? Go to the Downloads page: you'll find every platform (Windows 64-bit, macOS Apple Silicon and Intel, Linux x64 and ARM64) with the SHA-256 fingerprint to check the file is intact.
