Getting started with the CLI

Your first session

Go to a project folder and type kaivo. On the very first launch, your browser opens on a Kaivo sign-in page. Sign in, confirm, and go back to the terminal: the Kaivo window shows up.

If the browser doesn't open, the sign-in address is also written in the terminal: copy it into your browser. It stays valid for ten minutes.

Now write your request in the message box, for example: “Explain how this project is organised”. Kaivo goes through the files, then answers. You see every tool it uses: reading a file, searching the code, and so on.

For a first real change, try something small: “Add a header comment to main.go”. Kaivo shows you what it wants to change and asks: Allow, Allow for the session, or Deny. You always stay in control.

A tip: type /init at the start. Kaivo analyses your project and writes a Kaivo.md file that remembers your test commands and code style. It will remember it in every new session.
